		    Prancing Pony Cooperative
		     Point-of-sale Terminal

If you have a Prancing Pony account, you may use this terminal to charge
food from the Prancing Pony vending machine. Prancing Pony Account
Request forms are available from Fran Larson, MJH 358.

Example: if your Pony account name is "LEO" and you want to buy a 35-cent
item from the machine, type
	LEO V35<return>
at which point you will be asked for your password, which will not be
echoed when you type it. Don't forget to hit <return> after the password.
You must specify the exact cost of the item as no change will be given.
Note that saying V25 will not open a 20-cent door.

LUCKY WINNER FEATURE: Occasionally, the program will spontaneously
decide to give you the food free and will inform you of this happy event
with suitable bell-ringing.

GAMBLER MODE: If you type an "F", the Pony flips you for it, double
or nothing, and announces the outcome (50:50 chance -- honest!). The
Pony declines to play for negative entries. Gamblers are not eligible
for the lucky winner feature.

For example, to buy a 20-cent vending machine item, a 35-cent vending
machine item, mild indigestion, and flip for double or nothing, type
	LEO V20 V35 F
In this case, it will open the 20-cent door first and wait for you to hit
<return> again before it opens the 35-cent door and tells you whether you
won or lost.

COMPLETE LIST of item codes:

V - Vending machine: the cost of the item in cents should follow the "V"
F - Flip for it, double or nothing
G - to enter Gripes, compliments, remarks
I - Itemize your charges day-by-day.
T - show your Total changes for the month
B - report Balance
P - change your Password. You will be asked for your new password
after you have typed your old one and <return>. Passwords can
be at most three characters and are stored by the Pony system
completely independently of your SAIL login password(s).

You can also "uncharge" by specifying a negative value. For example,
if the 35-cent door won't open, you can type
	LEO V-35 G
to credit your account for 35 cents (arousing the suspicions of the
accountants) and allow you to enter a gripe or comment.

BILLS: You will be billed by the computer at the end of each month. The
bill will be placed in your MJH mail box on the second floor (unless you
specified a different address on your Account Request Form). The bill
will tell you where to pay.

If you would like to know about charges for earlier months, use the "T"
(for "total") or "I" (for "itemize") commands followed by ":" and 3 or
more letters of the month name, optionally followed by "." and the last
two digits of the year. Thus if LEO were interested in totals for the
preceding July and August and itemized charges for September 1979, he
would type
	LEO T:JUL T:AUG I:SEP.79

RANDOM INFORMATION: If you would like to know how much has been given
away by the LUCKY WINNER FEATURE, type "SYS T" or "SYS I". To find
out the house net on DOUBLE OR NOTHING this month, type "F T" or "F I".
A positive total means the house is losing. Each of these commands
also lists gross sales for the month.

Bon appetit!
